The packaging regulations
- UK and European targets are set to increase for the recycling of all products
- All importers, manufacturers and suppliers must meet the packaging targets or purchase PRNs to satisfy their recycling obligations
- Target achievement is reinforced by heavy fines
- All companies with a significant turnover must register with the Environment Agency
- Records must be kept of new packaging usage.
- Recyling and recovery targets must be met or PRNs purchased to meet the shortfall
- Companies must increase the quantity of packaging recycled and demonstrate that they have informed their customers on how they can help to recycle packaging.
